Rafael Cumont-Vioque. cello

Founded in 2019 in Avignon by composer Elisabeth Angot, Ensemble 44 aims to give voice to contemporary creation by drawing on the repertoire of Western music as a whole. Ensemble 44 thus addresses a broad musical territory: in the field of so-called scholarly music, from ancient music to contemporary creation; but also in the field of traditional and improvised music, jazz, French song.

From prehistory to today and in all regions of the world, music and dance are intimately linked. Across cultures and according to varied codes, gestures and sounds combine as reciprocal sources of inspiration. This program highlights the bass clarinet. In a duo with the cello, an unexpected formation is created which highlights with rhythm, energy and lyricism, the dance movements of classical music, traditional tango and klezmer music, or those, more contemporary, inspired by popular dances such as disco.

• classical and contemporary repertoire : Georg Friedrich Haendel, Johann Sebastian Bach, Piotr Ilitch Tchaïkovsky, Gabriel Fauré, Guillaume Connesson, Mathieu Bonilla
• traditional inspired music : Béla Kovàcs, Gaspar Cassado, Astor Piazzolla, Belà Bartok, traditionnel Klezmer
