Baroque music » ENSEMBLE ANTIPHONA » Friday 15th August – 6:30 pm

Eva TAMISIER. soprano and percussion
Camille SUFFRAN. soprano
Susan EDWARD. bass to bow
Rolandas MULEIKA. singing and art direction

The Antiphona ensemble aims to reveal to the public the unpublished masterpieces of the ancient repertoire of Occitanie.

Passionate about this heritage of rare musical quality, Rolandas Muleika particularly seeks to highlight great works of the 17th and 18th centuries in which period instruments sublimate the voices. He chose manuscripts that have remained for centuries to be restored and reinterpreted. In this process, we recently highlighted two exceptional motets by Jospeh Valette de Montigny, Jean Mallet or Bernard-Aymable Dupuy.

Many of their treasures are still unknown today and sometimes even doomed to disappear. These founding works of classical music allow the ensemble to flourish on other repertoires that find an echo in the modernity of our time. This is why the group has chosen to transmit and professionalize young artists by appropriating this heritage.

The preservation of this exceptional intangible heritage, its valorization and reinterpretation animate with passion and talent all the work of Rolandas Muleika and the artists of his ensemble.

Two looks, sacred and profane, intersect to evoke a fascinating symbolism of the rose.
